In September of last year I headed to Gascony for a wedding in the south of France. For three sun-drenched days we celebrated Simon and Lizzie’s wedding in a stunning 17th Century chateaux- Château de Mazelières . The romantic, rustic venue was the perfect setting for the intimate ceremony, and the whole weekend of festivities gave us all a chance to spend more time with each other, making it all the more special. It was also a particularly special wedding for me since I’d known Simon for almost ten years and my husband was one of the best men!

The beautiful chateaux grounds and the surrounding vineyards gave me plenty of gorgeous backdrops to shoot Simon and his new wife Lizzie in her show-stopping, champagne-hued ‘Olivia’ by Sassi Holford dress.

As night drew in, the reception area grew darker and darker. When it came to cutting the cake (which was utterly, wipe-drool-from-mouth delicious by the way), the light was terrible and we could barely see the happy couple. I hate to use flash if I can avoid it so I improvised with some phone torches and arranged the guests behind Simon and Lizzie as they cut the cake, making the phones look like bright stars in the night sky.
