soulful

beautiful

I once moved a hundred candles onto a balcony, so I could give my bride the ‘rom-com movie moment’ she’d always wanted.

I’ve borrowed knockout dresses from favourite designers, trekked up dunes, and caught more sunrises than I care to count.
I’d do anything for ‘the shot’. But it’s more than that.

I found a pianist on the streets of Santorini, and nudged my couple onto the cobbles for their first dance.

Behind each photo is a story, a feeling; a memory caught in a frame.

A smile to ourselves as we stand in the hallway. A “Do you remember…?”, or a “Go on, you tell it better”.

It’s why we love photos, isn’t it? For the way we felt; for the way they make us feel.

And as your wedding photographer, that’s what I want to give you. More than just spectacular photos; I want you to have the ‘movie moment' memory that goes with them.

The Experience

We’ll hug hello, and you’ll feel like you’ve known me for years. We’ll chat, tell stories, laugh out loud. Silence will be rare, and comfortable. And we’ll never *shudder* small talk.

There’ll be times when I’ll gently guide things along. An invitation towards the best light; a topped-up glass; a suggestion to put on your outfit, or get ready to leave. Little nudges so it all feels easy, unhurried, effortless.

And sometimes I’ll take a chance, and make something happen. An idea, an adventure, a spontaneous ‘why not?’ A hopped fence and a sunset; a speaker, a few stolen minutes, and a bottle from the bar.

A good wedding photographer will document your day as it happens. I’ll give you an experience you couldn’t get with anyone else.

the
details

I love how much thought and care goes into making a wedding special. Every detail considered, and reconsidered. Picked out from a hundred others that weren’t quite right.

And with each decision you make, you’ll pour a little part of yourselves into the day.

A love story told in a thousand choices that could only be yours.

So as I’m telling your story, I’ll take care to tell this side of it. I’ll begin with a vignette of your styling; a conscious tableaux of your details before the day takes hold.

And as everything falls into place, I’ll capture that too. Your chairs being put out, your musicians warming up, your flowers placed. Perfume spritzed, shoes slipped on, buttons fastened.

You’ll have poured your hearts into creating something beautiful for a day. I’ll make sure to keep it safe.

Couple portraits are my signature. Any light, any weather, any hemisphere.
“Get on with it” is not the vibe. I’ll tap you on the shoulder, whisk you away from your guests. And for a blissful half an hour or so, all you’ll have to think about is each other.

There’s an intimacy in these moments away from the crowds.

The cheeky jokes you have, the easy affection of each other’s company, the way you somehow just slot together.

the
shot

And that’s what I want to capture, that secret ‘couple behaviour’ that comes out when you’re alone.

If you need direction, I’ll give it; if you need space, it's yours. I’ll know where we’re going, why you fell in love with your venue, and what kind of images would speak to you most.

All you have to do is focus on each other. And together, the three of us will create something iconic for your walls.

"It’s actually, really, very hard to find the words to portray just HOW good Rebecca Carpenter is!"

But I’m going to try. Rebecca.is.a.force! Not only is she the best photographer you could ever work with, she’s also the MOST beautiful person. The love and passion she pours into her couples is inspirational and her work ethic is unmatched. She’s creative, she’s brave and she somehow (I was there and I still don’t know how) draws that out of you too. Her personality is infectious and she made us feel super comfortable and beautiful from the very second we met. She was our absolute right hand on the wedding day. All day. I told you, she works HARD. So hard. She was not only there, taking pictures, from right at the start while we got ready, way up until our last dance but she was also there helping us, guiding us, making us laugh and generally making our day the best day of our lives.

We will NEVER forget the time we spent with her and just want to do it all over again. She sent us about 100 preview photos the very next day, which blew our minds and now we have received our full gallery, which is honestly, frame after frame of pure magic. Looking through them took us right back to those beautiful moments. We laughed, we cried, we danced and were able to relive it all. We cannot thank Rebecca enough and are so grateful she was there with us. What a photographer. What a woman!

"to say you went above and beyond would be doing you a real injustice."

You were incredible beyond words. Being a wedding photographer is so much more than just taking beautiful photographs. It takes such dedication, skill (photography and people skills!) hard work & preparation. We couldn’t have asked for a warmer, sweeter or more organised photographer. The day ran behind, it rained, we missed one (or two?!) boats and looking back it was hilarious, but no doubt an absolute logistical nightmare for every supplier involved!

I have followed and been inspired by your work for so SO long & it was an absolute dream come true to have you as our wedding photographer. We live in real Wedding County down here (Cornwall ) and are surrounded by suppliers but you were really the only photographer for us! It’s cheesy, it’s cliche but it is so true when I say you have given us memories that will last a lifetime. You even gave me your brand new control Pants. What a star! We are so thankful to you. You’re the best!

"we would recommend her a million times over."

After we started planning our destination wedding, it was quickly time to pick a photographer to capture every magical moment. We looked through the options, but had already long before decided it had to be Rebecca. Finding out she was available and willing to photograph our wedding was literally a dream come true! We knew from our first zoom call that Rebecca was so much more than a photographer- she was funny, energetic, kind, knowledgeable, and a true friend from day one.

Rebecca was there for every moment of our wedding week, encouraging us, providing direction, and making us feel so comfortable that we completely forgot we had a camera on us and just lived in the moment. The portfolio we received so soon after the wedding just blew us away. I would love to write a million words about it, but it left us completely speechless. Rebecca is an absolute dream both professionally and personally and we would recommend her a million times over.

"the most magical experience one could hope for."

Working with Rebecca as our wedding photographer has proven to be the most magical experience one could hope for. Rebecca is not only an outstanding photographer, but she is a complete asset to your wedding day!! Throughout the whole experience from our planning Zoom calls all the way up until the end of our wedding night, Rebecca was right there by our sides for whatever we needed. She has such a natural way of connecting with her clients and making everyone feel like they are the most valued person in the room. She creates an environment of comfort and joy, and will stand up for you in all the day-of inevitable wedding stress. On top of this, her images speak for themselves as they are simply STUNNING. She is magic behind the camera and truly knows how to capture all of what you’re hoping for on your big day! The amount of compliments I received from wedding guests about how amazing Rebecca is, is too many to count. If you’re thinking to book Rebecca as your wedding photographer, DO IT. We cannot recommend her enough!!

Rebecca, thank you SO much for all of your support, hard-work, and stunning images. You are truly magnificent and we will forever be grateful to have had the opportunity to work with you!

All over the place, really. I grew up in Bristol, and went to uni up in Carlisle. I lived and worked in London for a few years, and now I live in Kent (just south of London).

This is probably my most asked question. But...the technical answer is..

My Father is Malaysian Chinese and my Mother is English so I'm half and half also known as
Chinglish.

I am based in Kent (England) but travel globally to capture weddings. I have a valid passport and love travelling to exciting destinations. If you're getting married abroad, get in touch for a personalised quote.

I know how excited you’ll be to see your photos after your wedding. I always make sure to edit 5-10 previews as soon as I can so that you’ve got something to share with friends and family straight away. Typically the bulk of your photographs will be ready within 6-8 weeks. Once the shots are fully edited, I’ll send you an online gallery for you to look through at home. You then get to select your favourites, which I will get printed for you.

Beautiful, soulful, joyful, and memorable imagery that embraces colour and contrast.

No, I'm afraid as a rule they're not something I make available to my clients. It's quite standard in the photography industry but I'll explain why briefly so you understand I'm not just being difficult! To begin with, simply to view them requires specialised software such as Photoshop or Lightroom, programmes which are expensive and so usually only owned by professional photographers. This means to the majority of my clients they are completely inaccessible.

A fair majority are outtakes (blinking, out of focus, poor lighting etc. and look nothing like the final result), so the few people who can access them tend to find the RAW files an anticlimax anyway! I put a lot of love and magic in post, processing the images for them to look the way they are.

I’m incredibly selective what type of weddings and elopements I take on each year. Making sure I’m a good fit with my clients but around 15 weddings a year and 10 engagement/ couple shoots.

Yes please! Weddings are very long days for us photographers. If I were to leave your wedding in search of food, I could be gone for up to an hour and might miss something. (Top tip!- A fed photographer is a happy photographer!) I also love a dessert if you're feeling generous ;-)

I don't have a fixed number but typically a wedding gallery can be anything from 600 images to 800. This all varies on a combination of things, number of locations, amount of guests, length of coverage, lighting etc.

Of course!! I believe you never truly need an excuse for a photoshoot! Celebrate your love story whatever chapter name the place and date and let's make some magic together.

Absolutely! Town Hall weddings are my jam and some of my favourite weddings to capture. The minimum I require for a intimate/micro wedding is 2 hours. Which is perfect if you want just the highlights captured. Your cemony and then some portraits afterwards. I only capture Micro weddings Monday to Thursday.
