Are you planning a micro wedding at Chelsea Old Town Hall in London and dreaming of a day that feels deeply intimate, personal and sentimental? Then this is one you’ll want to take notes from.

Rose and Jack’s micro wedding at Chelsea Town Hall was the perfect example of how scaling back can create something even more meaningful. Their original plans had been reshaped time and time again. Covid restrictions changed everything. A guest list of 180 became just 23. By the time they finally said “I do”, this was their fourth attempt at getting married.

What could have felt devastating instead became something incredibly beautiful. Rose got ready nearby at luxury boutique hotel The Franklin Hotel. Having drinks on the balcony and spending time with her brothers.

A Meaningful Micro Wedding at Chelsea Old Town Hall

With a smaller guest list and a fresh perspective, Rose and Jack embraced the heart of what a wedding truly is. Family, love and connection. Every single guest felt part of something special, not just present, but truly involved.

By stepping away from the expectations of a large wedding, they created a day that felt deeply intentional. From the gorgeous bouquets and wedding cake lovingly made by Jack’s mum, to the relaxed reception hosted in Rose’s brother’s back garden, every detail was shaped by family or close friends.

It was one of those days where you could feel the care woven into every moment.

Why Intimate Weddings Are So Special

This is exactly what I adore about micro weddings and intimate ceremonies. The focus shifts entirely to the couple and the people who mean the most to them. The day feels slower, richer and more emotional. There’s space for connection, for conversation and for moments that might otherwise get lost in a bigger celebration.

Rose and Jack’s wedding was full of those moments.

Some personal highlights included a surprise firework display organised by Rose’s brothers, champagne-fuelled portraits in the back of a London taxi, a beautiful first dance beneath twinkling festoon lights, and the quiet, emotional pride in Rose’s brothers’ eyes as they watched them dance.

And then there was Rose’s suit.

A Wedding Outfit Filled With Love and Legacy

Rose wore a stunning vintage cream suit that felt effortlessly cool and completely her. But the story behind it is what made it truly unforgettable. This part isn’t mine to tell, so I’ll let Rose share it in her own words:

“In 1995, my mother Lisa Jane Mahoney married my father Fredrick Walter Sheppard. A woman of great style, she wore a cream, clean-cut suit with stunning embroidery detailing. Mum left this world twenty years later, leaving behind a family whose love cannot be explained. She is at the heart of all we do.

Fast forward twenty-five years and I, Rose-Marnie Sheppard, married Jack Elliot Davies in the very same suit she married my dad in. It was my way of having her by my side on a day I never could have imagined not having her by my side. Instead of having her sitting in front of me, her arms were wrapped around me in a metaphorical sense.”

There are weddings you enjoy photographing, and then there are weddings that stay with you forever. This was one of those.

A Chelsea Town Hall Wedding I’ll Never Forget

Rose and Jack’s Chelsea Town Hall micro wedding wasn’t just stylish, cool or beautifully put together. It was overflowing with emotion, family and deep love. Every word of the ceremony, every thoughtful detail and every stitch of Rose’s suit carried meaning.

It’s one of my favourite weddings I’ve ever photographed, and a perfect reminder that smaller weddings can hold the biggest hearts.
