An Indian fusion wedding in Marrakech
Anika and Henry had their Indian fusion wedding in Ksar Char-Bagh. And it was *perfect*. I spent four days with this incredible couple, in this incredible venue. And there was not a moment I would trade, a detail I would change, or a single petal out of place.
Styled and planned by Boutique Souk, their celebration was a beautiful blend of ancient tradition, modern elegance, and vibrantly colourful style.
Her bridal look was flawless; his Baratt was epic! And with their friends and family as witness, they said their vows beside a petal-dappled pond.
If you’ve been dreaming of getting married in Marrakech, come take a look. This is everything a wedding in Ksar Char-Bagh could be…
Ksar Char-Bagh wedding venue in Marrakech
Ksar Char-Bagh is a truly spectacular place to get married. Once an ornate royal palace, the 14th Century riad is now one of the most sought-after wedding venues in Marrakech.
And it’s not hard to see why.
The intricate Moorish architecture, inch-perfect lawns, and iconic palm-lined pool. The warm air, scented with figs, olives and citrus. The rooms; serenely understated, comfy and calm.
Just strolling through the grounds is incredible. Having your wedding in Ksar Char-Bagh is- in the truest sense of the word- an experience.
Modern-traditional bridal styling
Our morning began with hugs hello; our conversations carrying on from the Mehndi party the day before. And it was blissful. The rooms were quiet and cool. The warm breeze played in the palms outside.
Anika looked beautiful in her exquisite Indian dress. With long sleeves, high neck and intricate lace detail, it was a gorgeous blend of traditional and modern. And the perfect bridal look for a wedding in Ksar Char-Bagh.
She completed the look with elegant hair and makeup. And a vibrant bouquet of white and pink peonies, yellow roses, and delicate Queen Anne’s Lace.
We had a fun ‘first look’ with her bridesmaids. And then a few intimate moments of peace with her father. And with the guests arriving outside, we had one last ‘this is it’ moment, and headed out the door to the ceremony.
Meeting of the Families, and the Baratt
Meanwhile, the families were lining the path leading up to the palace.
There were handshakes and hugs all-round; flower garlands and colourful socks! And behind us, the epic white facade of Ksar Char-Bagh climbed into the clear blue sky.
And then- quietly at first- we heard them.
The drums.
All eyes were on the arches…waiting, waiting. And then there he was. Riding on the back of a camel- sunnies on, drummers dancing on all sides, and a huge smile on his face. Henry.
He climbed down, hugged his parents and his father-in-law-to-be. And together we made our way through to the courtyard.
Ceremony styling inspiration for your wedding in Ksar Char-Bagh
The courtyard of Ksar Char-Bagh wedding venue is a truly awe-inspiring space. Ornate, epic, beautiful, and unapologetically opulent, as only a palace could be.
And Boutique Souk had styled the place to perfection.
A dramatic aisle had been constructed down the centre of the pond; flower petals floated gently across the water. And behind the altar, a spectacular floral arch of pink, violet and yellow peonies, roses and sunflowers.
A string quartet welcomed us in. And as we stepped through the arches, a ripple of “oh wow”s cascaded through the crowd behind me.
The ceremony was beautiful- a blend of tradition, romance, and heartfelt sentiment. And as the celebrant made it official, a huge cheer filled the space, echoing through the courtyard and up into the clear blue sky.
Wedding photography in Ksar Char-Bagh
As a wedding photographer, Ksar Char-Bagh is a paradise. The architecture is jaw-droppingly photogenic; the light flawless; the gardens beautiful and secluded.
And oh my, *that* staircase!
It’s an absolute dream to photograph, and an unforgettable experience to explore. And if you hire the place exclusively as A&H did, you literally have a royal palace all to yourselves.
We strolled through Ottoman archways and wildflower meadows. We found olive groves, citrus groves, ponds, palms, and sun-dappled pathways.
The last couple of days had been hectic in the best possible way. And I loved that I got to sneak Anika and Henry away, and give them a few stolen minutes in this endlessly romantic place.
Wedding breakfast styling in Ksar Char-Bagh
We spent the afternoon having drinks by the palm-lined pool. And as the sun disappeared behind Ksar Char-Bagh, we strolled across the grounds to the reception in the glasshouse.
And there we had another “oh wow” moment.
Vibrant colours filled the space- the exquisite florals, the bright purple napkins. Candles flickered from the tables, and from the golden lamps hanging above us. And a cool evening breeze blew in through the open doors.
The food was insanely tasty (they’ve got their own kitchen garden!) The speeches were heartfelt and hilarious.
But my favourite part of the evening was watching Anika and Henry. Kissing, cuddling, holding hands. Completely loved-up. And just *so happy* together in that newly-married bubble.
Dance moves, disco balls, and a vibey outfit change
The evening ended in a wild party in the glasshouse of Ksar Char-Bagh.
The tunes were relentless, the dance-floor heaved, and drinks flowed endlessly from the disco-ball bar. It was an incredible way to end an unforgettable celebration, and I am genuinely dying to go back!
